If you love your life, leave Apostle Suleman alone, Nigerian Bishops warn Stephanie Otobo

Some Nigerian Bishops under the banner of the Niger Delta Bishops and Ministers Forum (NDBMF), have warned Ms. Stephanie Otobo to retrace her steps from her allegations against Apostle Suleman or face the wrath of God.
The president of NDBMF, His Eminence, Dr. Julius Ediwe, who spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt said the allegations of Ms. Otobo against Apostle Suleman is pure falsehood.
“We want to let Nigerians and the whole world know that this is propaganda. It is false. As spiritual fathers in the land, we will not be quiet and watch a young girl with whoever that is sp
onsoring her, spoil the name of a man of God.
A man of God who has single-handedly stood in defense of Christians in this country, Africa and the whole world. We cannot sit down and watch a young girl like that speak blasphemy of such a man of God. We are here to say it is an error.
As Niger Delta Bishops and Ministers Forum, we condemn the actions of the young girl and whoever that is sponsoring her. We want to advise them to leave Apostle Suleiman alone; allow him to do what God has sent him to do.
God called him to preach the gospel and we are enjoying the gospel and we love what he is doing. I want to let Nigerians know that Apostle Suleiman has made us, clergymen proud in this country.
Such a man is not somebody who that little girl should come up to rubbish. So, we are saying, please, if you love your life, run away from this evil paid for against the man of God.
If not, the wrath of God is coming upon you! We know that such allegation can come at any time to any man of God who preached the truth and has integrity. We want to urge Nigerians not to buy into what that young girl is saying.
Anybody that is following the girl should be careful, because they are incurring the wrath of God. Remember, the Bible said, touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm.
God has not permitted anybody to speak such evil of any man of God. We are warning whoever is involved in this to be careful with men of God.”

Bill to prohibit tribal marks passes second reading

A Bill for an Act to provide for the Prohibition of Facial Mutilation, Offences, Prosecution and Punishment of Offenders on Tuesday passed second reading in the Senate.
The Bill is also for the Protection of victims under threat of facial mutilation and other related Matters. Sen. Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi), who sponsored the bill, said that there was no doubt that Africans of old used tribal marks as a means of proper identification.
Leading debate on the bill, Melaye said in those days, members of the same village, tribe or lineage had the same tribal marks. Melaye said that the hometown and lineage of a child or anyone with tribal marks were immediately identified, while outsiders who did not have such marks were also spotted.
He further explained that parents also used tribal marks to lay credence to the legitimacy of their children. However, the lawmaker said “all these reasons cannot be scientifically proven, and hence cannot enjoy the support for this harmful practice’’.
“The irony of these marks is that it makes victims subjects of mockery by friends. Imagine someone being called a tiger simply because of the thick cheeks resulting from facial marks.
These people have been subjected to different reactions. Some have lamented the marks that are bequeathed on them as generational inheritance. Many have cursed the day which this dastardly act was performed on them.
Many of the grown adults have confessed that the most terrific debacle of their lives is their tribal marks. Some have become eunuchs because of this stigma. Imagine a boy in the class of 25 pupils carrying a tribal mark. His mates will call him the boy with the railway line.
They are emblems of disfiguration. Some of them have developed low self-esteem and most times treated with scorn and ridicule including rejection by the female folks.
The reactions of people who interact with them say it dampens and lowers their spirit,’’ he said. Melaye stated that besides the health implication of the practice, it was an infringement on the rights of children, adding that every Nigerian child deserved the right to live.

Nigerian man sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually exploiting a S. African teenager

The High Court in Johannesburg has sentenced a man convicted of sexually exploiting a 15-year-old girl and forcing her into prostitution to an effective 20 years in prison.
Two weeks ago Eke Ogochukwu was found guilty of four charges relating to human trafficking. The teenager escaped in August 2015 and received help from a nearby church in Rosettenville. Judge Majake Mabesele says what the accused did was cruel.
“Clearly what happened to her was cruel, inhuman and degrading and was a violation of the right to human dignity, which is enshrined in our Constitution.” Ogochukwu, known to the girl only as Johnny, sexually abused her.
The court heard that he would drug her, force her to perform sexual acts with other men and take the money she made through prostitution. The young girl was given R50 a day for food and a further R100 for every man she was forced to sleep with.
The judge says Ogochukwu took advantage of the teenager as she was homeless after running away from her Vereeniging home in 2015 following a fight with her mother.
