Senators’ wives donate to babies in IDP camps

The Senators’ Wives Forum has donated foodstuffs and body care products to infants and children at various Internally Displaced Persons’ camps across the country.

A statement by the Executive Coordinator, Senators’ Wives Forum, Ms. Inimfon Etuk, on Saturday said the forum was represented by Mrs. Hadiza Ali Wakili and Mrs. Louis Gyunka from Bauchi-South and Nasarawa-North Senatorial Districts, respectively, as well as the Executive Coordinator of SWF, Ms. Inimfon Etuk, made the donation during the launch of the “Get Involved” component of the Future Assured Initiative, which was organized by the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, in Abuja.

The statement said the ‘Get Involved’ campaign was meant to rally contributions from Nigerians to address heightened incidence of malnutrition in the IDP camps.

In her remarks, Wakili, who led the delegation and spoke on behalf of the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, who is the chairman of the SWF, was quoted as saying, “We are moved by the rising and alarming reports of hunger, starvation and malnutrition of our displaced citizens, especially infants and children, and (we) hope our contribution will go some way to alleviate the heavy public burden of care for our sisters, brothers and children in these displaced communities, as canvassed by the Wife of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Mrs Aisha Buhari.”
