Teens tells of terror at fairground ride horror that sent revellers flying and put three in hospital

A REVELLER has told of his horror after watching four of his friends being thrown from a fairground ride that saw three people taken to hospital and more injured.
Thrill-seekers suffered cuts and suspected broken bones in the accident near the Scottish Airshow in Ayr that saw teens sent flying from their seats.

Dylan Ross, 16, who was on the ride with a pal, said: “I was on the ride and it was bouncing.
“A cart flew back and we fell off it, we both fell into the middle.
“We were waiting 20 minutes for the emergency services.
“I think I’ve got whiplash, one boys neck was cut and he was bleeding out.
“I wouldn’t have thought this could have happened.
“I was terrified.
“It was still bouncing and took about three minutes to stop.
“Loads of folk were on it and it was going way faster than usual.
“People were screaming ‘get me off’.”
Another teen said: “I feel sick. It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen.
“It just went flying off and it kept on spinning.
“I’ll never go on another rollercoaster ride again for the rest of my life.”
Eye-witnesses rushed to give first aid to the injured as emergency services were scrambled to the scene at 9.30pm.
Police Scotland said a “number of people” were rushed to Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals for treatment.
None were “seriously hurt” and most are believed to have been “walking wounded”.
Punters on tagada-style rides – which have seats in a large spinning bowl – are not secured by seatbelts or restraints as it tilts and dips.

Scott, from Ayr, described how he heard a “click” before the carriage “just fell back”.
He said: “It was the last ride and I was on with four mates.
“It just fell off.
“I heard a click – it was about 6ft high at the time – and it just fell back.
“My best friend split his head open and I think one girl has broken her arm.
“But I’m alright, I just hit my head and my back.
“When I heard the click, I s**t myself to be honest.
“It was terrifying. I’m shocked.”
