Three suspects, Nnamdi Nweke, a welder apprentice, Chibuzor Mouto, an orange seller and Ikechukwu Okafor, a groundnut seller on Sunday were arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Anambra State for allegedly vandalizing electric cables at Agu- Awka line.
The suspects who are all from Awka were paraded at the Corps’ headquarters in the State.
The suspects, however, claimed that they were lured into the act by one Ezike from Awka who is still at large.
While addressing journalists, the State Commandant of the corps, Mr. Godwin Omoregie, revealed that the operatives while on patrol on Sunday heard a noise in the bush and went to investigate and saw the suspects cutting up cables with saws.
He said on sighting the operatives, the suspects took to their heels; however, one of them was caught and led the patrol officials to arrest the other two suspects while one is still at large.
Two saws were recovered from the suspects.
