See 'The eye of God!' as captured in Kazakhstan

This is the eerie picture of a rare cloud formation has that been dubbed 'the eye of God'.  

An online amateur photographer - identified only as '1shustry' - has been flooded with social media comments since he posted the snap, which was taken in Kazakhstan's capital Astana.

It shows an image of what seems to be a huge, god-like eye looking down on the city.

It has also been compared to the eye used by the reality TV show Big Brother, which has the tagline 'Big Brother is always watching you.' 

The photographer, who snapped the image and shared it online, said: 'I only noticed the eye a few days after I took the picture.'

And one person commented: 'It's really scary, but at least now we now it is only an illusion made up of water vapour and light. 

'Our ancestors would really treat this as some kind of omen, or sort of.'

While another called 'Mailibeck' said: 'Illuminati confirmed', alluding to Illuminati conspiracy theories. 

These are hugely popular online and usually feature the Eye of Providence on top of some kind of pyramid and a nefarious world-domination theme.

While another internet user- called 'Northwolf' - brought the debate back to reality and mentioned CCTV in Kazakhstan. 

He explained: 'Speaking about Big Brother, there is a CCTV cam with super highly resolution around the shopping mall Khan-Shatyr.'
