Boxer Bash Ali alleges police brutality while demanding to meet with sports minister
Boxing champion, Bash Ali, has accused policemen attached to the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, of brutalising him for demanding an appointment with the minister, Punchng reports.
He alleged that security operatives hit his head with rifle butts and also kicked him in the ribs causing him to lose consciousness. He says he still felt pains in his ribs and on his skull where he was assaulted by Dalung’s police orderlies.
He vows to take legal action against the minister and the policemen, adding that he was talking to his lawyers about the next line of action on the alleged assault.
He said, “Last Friday, the Perm Sec told us the minister said we should come on Monday. We were excited and I and some members of the LOC went to the ministry. We got there and waited almost three hours.
Later they told us he said we should come back again, that he just resumed. While we were discussing this, the Hungarian ambassador walked in and I asked the minister’s personal assistant, ‘How can this man just walk in to see the minister and in our own country, we couldn’t see him’ and that was how his police aides started pushing me; one hit the back of my head with the butt of his rifle and my back and I just collapsed."
Ali accused the minister of trying to frustrate the Guinness World Record boxing championship he was organising, adding that Dalung had been plotting to cut a deal for himself with the sponsors-the Bank of Industry and NEXIM Bank.
But the Director of Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Sports, Tolu Makinde, said Ali was merely stopped from molesting the ambassador and alleged that the boxer blocked him from entering the minister’s office.
He said, “The security had to politely take him away to allow the ambassador to enter; he just enacted a melodrama and feigned slumping. He said he would not stand up, so they took him to their clinic for observation and rest.
He wasn’t manhandled, but they (policemen) had to ensure he gave the right of way to the ambassador. You know what would happen if the ambassador was molested."

Photo: 33-year-old man rapes 70-year-old London returnee to death in her shop
Mrs. Egunjobi, a London returnee, was allegedly been raped to death by one Dare Garuba, at about 11p.m. on Sunday, in her shop at Mowe, Ogun State, reports NewTelegraph.
Witnesses reveal that the woman had taken two bottles of Alomo gin and became intoxicated. When she started misbehaving, the suspect reportedly offered to lead her home so that she would not be injured.
However, when Garuba led Egunjobi into her shop, he decided to take advantage of her. The Coordinator of OPC in the area, Bamidele Ayeyemi, said a Hausa man, who went to defecate in a nearby bush close to the woman’s shop, discovered that her shop opened.
According to Ayeyemi, the man raised the alarm, thinking that armed robbers had broken into the shop. He said: “Some of my boys and I, immediately we heard the man shouting thief, thief, we called for reinforcement and went round the market.
When we moved closed to the woman’s shop, Garuba opened the door and bolted. We finally apprehended him in the ceiling of an uncompleted building where he was hiding. We then handed him over to the police for appropriate action.”
What surprised us was that it was the same suspect who promised to take care of the woman so as not to sustain injuries, that later took advantage of her.” It was learnt that Garuba was still making love to the woman without knowing that she had died.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mowe Police Division, was said to be at the scene of the incident with the woman’s husband. But the widower refused to comment on his wife’s death.

PDP will win in 2019 – Jonathan
PDP remains Nigeria’s strongest and biggest party despite losing the 2015 presidential election, and will win the next general election, former President Goodluck Jonathan has said.
Jonathan said current efforts at reforming the party are “a clear sign” the PDP will win in 2019. The former president said this on Monday in Abuja while receiving a report from the Strategy Review and Inter-Party Affairs Committee of the PDP.
“Yes we lost the presidential election but that doesn’t diminish us. Every other party still knows that PDP is a leading party. Losing the presidency is something temporary. We should be able to get that position back as long as we are able to get our acts together,” he said.

I’m Not A Thief And Can’t Be One - James Ibori
Former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, yesterday reaffirmed his innocence of charges leveled against him in the U.K, where he recently served a jail term, saying, “I am not a thief.”
Chief Ibori gave the clarification at a thanksgiving service organised in honour of him by the monarch and people of Oghara kingdom at the First Baptist Church, Oghara.
Speaking for the first time since his arrival after serving his jail term in London, Chief Ibori said: “Today, I have decided to speak for myself, I am not a thief, I cannot be a thief.
Today is the day they say I should give testimony to God, for those that know me, you know that my entire life is a testimony itself and I have said it over and over again that my life is fashioned by God, directed by God, sealed, acknowledged, blessed by God and I believe that since the day I was born.
Like the Arch Bishop said, when this whole commotion started, what was most painful to me was the pain and suffering that my people were going through.
It has nothing to do with me as a person because for some reasons like I said to you, I drew my strength from God and somehow, I knew that God would stand by me, I knew that one day, and this day would come.
I am indeed very pleased that I can now stand before you and look at your faces, faces that I have missed and those of you that have indeed suffered the pains of my absence. It has nothing to do with me.
When I looked how things were going, I discovered that they want to separate me from you people. They want me to go to the corner where I will not be seen. That is how I see it.
At a point, I called my elder brother (former Governor Uduaghan) that this is how I can get home, that this is what I am about to do now. It was a pragmatic decision. I am happy to be home with my people. There is nobody that can battle with the Lord."

Ushie said she never gave him the opportunity to have sex with her while alive. He said that he invited her to his house and killed her with knife before having sex with the corpse.
The farmer, who said he was regretting his action, blamed the incident on the devil. He said, “It is the work of the devil. I do not know how. I am the one that killed her. I killed her with knife.
She was my girlfriend and I knew her for just two months before this incident happened. I slept with her corpse after killing her. It was strange sleeping with a dead corpse. I never had sex with her when she was alive because she never gave me that opportunity. I was always giving her money but she didn’t allow us to have sex.”

Women who expose their breasts, wear bangles, trousers, makeups, are going to hell – Pastor Muoka
G.O of Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pastor Lazarus Muoka on Sunday reiterated his warning to women who are fund of adorning male wears such as trousers. He maintained that such people would go to hell.
He also warned women to desist from adorning their bodies with artificial makeups, as such unholy practices were sins against God. He gave the warning while addressing a large crowd of worshipers at the just concluded international crusade titled; ‘From Sorrow to Joy” at the Chosen Revival Ground, ljesha, Lagos.
He said: “I want to tell you, you don’t need extra eye, makeup or bangle or attachment at all. You don’t need to dress and show your nakedness, your ass, your chest, your armpit, your tummy, your waist, your lap….that is sin. Cover your body properly.
And if you are a young man and you are doing jerry coil and you make your hair like a woman, use some funny language…and when they ask you where are you from and you say Naija instead of Nigeria, something is wrong with you. The Bible tells us that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
If you are a woman wearing trousers that’s a sin. If you are a man wearing skirt and blouse, that’s an abomination. Search your life, repent of your sin and God will show you mercy. God loves you. It is not the will of God that any soul should perish.”

$9.7m Cash Stash: Andrew Yakubu had 4 safes, not 1, whistle-blower insists
The whistle-blower who informed the EFCC where a former managing director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, hid safes stacked in foreign currencies has said that the safes were four not just the only one found in his Kaduna residence, Daily Nigerian reports.
A large fire-proof safe containing $9.7m and £74,000 cash, was found in Mr Andrew’s house in a Kaduna slum, Sabon Tasha, when EFCC operatives raided the house on February 3.
According to the news outlet, credible security sources reveal that the whistle-blower told EFCC investigators the safes in the house were 4 in number, and that the remaining 3 cash boxes were taken to an unknown destination, a few days to the EFCC raid.
Asked whether he had any hint as to where the rest of the safes were hidden, the whistle-blower said he did not know.
He was also quoted as saying that had EFCC not swung into action on February 3, chances were that the remaining one would also be evacuated.

Woman uses her menstrual blood of 4 months, to make painting of a baby
A woman meticulously collected the blood from her menstrual cycle for four months to make a painting. Artist Timi Pali wanted to make an image which represents the importance and fragility of motherhood.
She used tampons to collect her blood and her fingers to paint the matter onto four individual canvases which were eventually placed together. She told Mirror magazine.
“The focus is not on the blood, but the work has its message because of the menstrual flow. My concept with this elimination of the ovum, through the menstrual blood I gave birth to an artwork during these nine months and actually I created a ‘start of the end,’ and an artwork was born, which illustrates a baby.”
Explaining the piece in more detail on her website, Timi wrote: “One drop of experiment and I realise the beauty of the pain, the value of the period, fertilising my whole being. The periodic elimination of my ovum with my menstrual flow inspired me to give birth to something which has a biological end, and to create the start of the end.”

Buhari’s Doctors, Aides In Tug Of War Over His Possible Return Tomorrow
Presidency sources have said that Pres. Buhari plans to return to Nigeria on Saturday after his test results came in “fine.” However, his return remains uncertain as his team of doctors in the U.K has yet to certify him fit to take on the significant burden of his office.
SaharaReporters learned that members of Mr. Buhari’s inner circle were pressuring him to return to Nigeria in order to avoid a power vacuum that could scale down their influence.
SaharaReporters learnt that President Buhari remains in frail health and requires treatment for an undisclosed ailment that requires his absence from Nigeria for a prolonged time.
However, owing to the volatile political situation in Nigeria, some members of his inner circle have been persuading him that he cannot afford to take more time off.
Members of the political establishment surrounding him are persuading him to accept a piecemeal medical treatment plan rather than adopt a plan recommended by his UK doctors that would take several months for treatment and recovery.
The president’s associates are reportedly afraid that a prolonged tenure as acting President for Mr. Osinbajo, could significantly change the power equation against them.
One source disclosed that, even if Pres. Buhari returns to Abuja on Saturday, he would soon have to travel again to the UK to seek further treatment.
