Jonkin Chibuzor, who is the suspected leader of a kidnap gang in Rivers State, Jonkin Nkwuozor, was on Friday arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court, for allegedly killing an operative of the DSS, Reuben Uzoma, and kidnapping his wife, two children and sister-in-law.
The suspect was said to have carried out the act in company with two other gang members, Okechukwu Onyegbosi and Mike Ogu, on November 16, 2016, on the Ngor-Okpala-Etche road in Etche LGA of Rivers State.
Chibuzor and the two others were charged to court on eight counts, which included murder of a DSS official. It was gathered that the accused persons later freed the wife, children and sister-in-law of the DSS operative after killing him.
The kidnap gang members were later apprehended by the DSS operatives when they tried to sell the Toyota Venza car belonging to the deceased. A source said Uzoma had earlier shot and killed two members of the kidnap gang when they attempted to stop him.
Unknown to him, one of the kidnappers was coming behind him and he was shot with a pump action gun.
