Sergeant Felix Igbasan, a policeman attached to the Inspector General of Police (IG) Special Intelligence Response Team (SIRT), was monday gunned down in the line of duty.
The gallant police officer, who is known for his feat at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lagos before his transfer to the SIRT in Abuja, was gunned down by an eight-man armed robbery gang.
It was gathered that the deceased, alongside other members of the team, had engaged the armed robbers in a fierce gun battle. The gang were said to have robbed a senior immigration officer in Abuja, although they were later arrested and four AK47 rifles recovered.
According to the team, the contributions of Igbasan in the operation and several high risk operations in Lagos at SARS and IRT in Abuja, are too numerous to mention.
