Armed robbery suspect kills middle-age man at mother’s burial

A middle-age man (name withheld) was at the weekend shot dead in Ute-Erumu Community, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State by armed robbery suspect who reportedly invaded the burial ceremony of the mother.
It was reliably gathered that the mother of the victim who died at 86, was being buried in the community when some group of hoodlums got wind of the ceremony.

They were said to have allegedly shot sporadically into the air to enable them rob unsuspecting guests when stray bullets hit the victim in the chest and he died on the spot.

Eye witness said that the ugly incident saw guests who came for the ceremony scampering for their dear lives as the victim was left in his pool of blood but the police in Owa Oyibu Division who swung into action on a top-off, arrested the suspect.

Confirming the incident, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, said the arrested suspect had made useful statements to the police, adding that he would be charged to court on completion of investigation.

He said that the suspect Osaro Igie, claimed to have joined the robbery gang because of frustration and hunger.
