FG to empower women with N1.6bn loan

The Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, has said the FG has concluded plans to disburse about N1.6bn to women in 8 states under its empowerment programme to support small businesses.
She made the disclosure in Nasarawa State, when she paid a visit to the state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura. According to her, the loan, known as the National Women Empowerment Scheme, is part of the N500bn social intervention fund endorsed by Pres. Buhari.
She listed the beneficiaries as Nasarawa, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Abia, Osun, Jigawa, and Akwa Ibom states. Alhassan said her visit was to inform women on the procedure for obtaining the loan without any form of collateral or bank specification as is the case with previous schemes.
The minister disclosed that other states will also benefit from Government Enterprises Empowerment Programme as soon as more funds is released.
