A man has been rescued from inside a toilet after he became stuck when he lowered himself inside to retrieve a friend's phone.
Firefighters pulled 20-year-old Cato Berntsen Larsen from the public
facility in Norway after he was stuck thigh-high in the contents of the
toilet for an hour.
Larsen, who became sick and threw up during in the ordeal, told Norwegian newspaper VG: "I panicked because I hate confined spaces.
"It was damn disgusting - the worst I have experienced. There were animals down there too."
Larsen said he "did not think twice" when his friend shouted for help to get his phone back after it had fallen in.
But the tattooed amateur diver soon regretted his decision after he realised he was trapped.
"I was obviously slim enough to get into it, but not slim enough to get out," Larsen told local media.
Firefighters were forced to destroy the toilet to rescue Larsen, who was injured in his upper arms during the process.
He was also treated in hospital and given antibiotics after he was apparently bitten several times.
The harrowing ordeal appears to have been in vain, as Larsen failed at retrieving the phone.
