President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday commiserated with the government
of Italy over the deadly earthquake that has reportedly killed over two
hundred people in the central part of the country.
This was part of a statement issued in this regard by the Senior
Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
He said, “My heart and prayers go out to the people of Italy at this
time of national mourning, caused by the devastating earthquake.”
Buhari in the condolence message addressed to the country’s Prime
Minister, Matteo Renzi, said his family, the government and the people
of Nigeria shared the grief of Italian citizens.
He, however, prayed to God to comfort the families of the victims and
grant them the fortitude to overcome their grief at this emotionally
trying time.
