Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, popularly called
FFK, says he is glad President Muhammadu Buhari is desperately looking
for oil in the North.
He noted that Buhari will agree to the division of the country if oil
is found in commercial quantity in the region. He said it’s only with
such that the President can allow for the needed restructuring of the
country.
He stated further that if unfortunately oil is not discovered in the
north, President Buhari and the north will continue to act as the major
obstacle to the nation’s peaceful division.
It will be recalled that last month, the president had ordered deeper
exploration of some hitherto neglected areas in the North-Eastern part
of Nigeria and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC had
stepped up measures to ensure a successful operation in the ongoing
search for crude oil in the Chad Basin and other parts of the Inland
Sedimentary Basin.
However, barely two weeks after, news made the rounds yesterday that
oil explorers and their machines (as seen in pictures) landed the ‘North
East region’ searching for oil, although, the report did not
specifically say what state in the region.
Reacting to the development, FFK on his Twitter handle @realFFK
yesterday, said “My prayer for Nigeria is that oil is found in
commercial quantities in the core north.
“I am glad that @MBuhari is looking for it desperately.
“If he finds it he and the north will be the first to call for a break up of the country.
“If he fails to find it they will continue to be the greatest
obstacle to the restructuring of our nation and they will continue to
provide the greatest opposition to the peaceful division of our country.
“Why? Because without southern oil the north is nothing,” he tweeted.
