U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team Wins Gold Medal

The U.S. women’s gymnastics team won a gold medal during the all-around finals at the 2016 Rio Olympics on Tuesday. Team USA’s star athletes Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian continued their incredible winning streak. This marks the the second-consecutive final win for the women’s team, which previously brought home the gold during the 2012 Olympics in London, for which both Douglas and Raisman also participated. But new addition Biles has been dominating the competition this year, with many experts now deeming her one of the best female gymnasts in history. Biles was the only member of Team USA to participate in all four events during the finals. Raisman and Hernandez joined the Olympian in showing off their skills on the balance beam, floor and vault, while Douglas and Kocian handled the uneven bars alongside her.
The U.S. team truly blew away their competitors to nab the gold. Placing in second and taking home the silver medal was Russia. And after a battle with Japan, China was able to secure the bronze.
On Thursday, the women will split up to compete in the individual all-around finals, for which Biles is the favorite to win the gold. Meanwhile, this Sunday sees the women participating in the vault finals. Gossip Cop extends congratulations to the U.S. women’s gymnastics team for its gold medal win at the 2016 Rio Olympics!
