The Scottish DJ had to grin his way through an awkward joke.
On Saturday (Aug. 6, 2016), Calvin Harris was on hand at Caesars Palace to accept the Future Icon Award from America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel when things took an uncomfortable turn.
“That’s a nice suit. Who’s your tailor?” Mandel teased as the 32-year-old took the stage to accept his prize. “See what I did?”
The crowd erupted in uneasy laughter at the Taylor Swift reference, and Harris was forced to press on despite the humiliating moment.
But, because Harris is a pro, he cracked a grin and acknowledged the clever ribbing.
“You had that prepared. You had that one ready,” the DJ replied.
“It’s an honor to be here. I don’t this thing that often. I don’t
receive these kinds of awards very often either. It’s great to be here.”
Harris and Swift parted ways earlier this summer, which laid the
groundwork for a bitter exchange about the true identity of the writers
behind “This Is What You Came For” and the hot-and-heavy Hiddleswift honeymoon, which has dominated headlines ever since.
