YENAGOA—Bayelsa
State Government has denied rumours that it got N19 billion from the Federation
Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC for the month of July. The state
Commissioner for Information, Jonathan Obuebite, in a statement in Yenagoa,
explained that the state got a gross total of N7.2 billion but took home N3.5
billion as net total after statutory deductions and local debt servicing,
admitting that there had been a sharp increase from the latest allocation
compared to previous months especially for this year. Meanwhile, Governor
Seriake Dickson, according to the commissioner, has directed the payment of
June salaries in addition to outstanding January 2016 arrears including those
of pensioners.
