Grandmother

Before I tell my story, I have to tell story of my grandmother. She was a strong woman and I think I inherited that too. Not going into great details, in Soviet times my fathers family brought a big house from original owners which they renovated greatly as it was used like communion house due to political changes. My grandmother had her values. She had previous owners - lady of the house picture in her wardrobe as a sign of respect (she died in this house and family emigrated when soviet times came) and I knew that because she told me that when I was small). So one day my grandmother was sitting in TV room upstairs and heard heavy steps coming up the stairs. Doors opened… no one was there. Instead of getting scared - somewhat she thought it was an old lady as she died in the house (there comes the strength I mentioned) she got angry and said to no one at the open door why she is coming there to trouble her as she has been nothing but respectful by keeping her picture in the guest room’s wardrobe and also cannot she see that she has kept the house nice and beautiful (she did had magnificent flower garden in front). No steps were heard after. Time passed and my grandmother died in the room on the ground floor. When we were coming to visit my fathers brother who still lives there, room where I slept was directly on top of my grandmother’s room. Six month after her death (she hold on to life for a few weeks shouting that she feels sick - sorry for such details but that’s part of the story). It was night and I was asleep upstairs when suddenly I am awaken because I hear my grandmother shouting downstairs!!
I am still amazed by my reaction and probably, if not previous story was made known to me, I would react differently. I listened for a minute or so, realized that most likely it is my grandmother and thought: ‘That’s mumy (we called her that) she will never never do anything bad to me.. and went to sleep. And may be it was her because I never heard noises again.
Must add that I am more fact and evidence person than religious one but I know from experience that there are things you cannot prove or explain just have to acknowledge them. And it makes life interesting.
