Location: Alabama
My wife and I, along
with our two children and yorkie lived in a house in Alabama that I
believe was haunted. We noticed some pretty strange things happening
after we moved in.
Our children would tell us
of seeing 'shadow people' in the halls and corners. There were 'cold'
spots in various places in the house.
Our
yorkie would be lying on the floor and jump up and start growling at an
empty area and then turn while still growling and snarling as if she
were watching someone/thing move across the floor.
Our
rear door was dead bolted and on more than one occasion after going to
bed for the night, we would wake up to find it standing unlocked and
standing wide open to the outside. We had a roll top desk in the living
room and we could hear it open and close by itself many times.
We
had family visit once and while we were sitting around talking, we
started telling some of these stories to our family. We had a big laugh
about 'hauntings and ghosts' until my sister-in-law noticed a bowl of
fruit on the dining room table and squeaked while pointing at the
fruit. One of the bananas slowly moved off the bowl and rolled across
the table with no one near. Our relatives decided not to spend the
night and went to a hotel instead.
We never
felt threatened or alarmed, the things happening seemed more like pranks
or jokes that a child would do for attention. When things would get to
be annoying, my wife would say "that's enough. Knock it off!" and for a
while it would be fairly normal.
Our neighbor,
the owner of the house and our landlord, said that his family owned the
house since it had been built in the 1920's and had talked about
'things' happening there for years.
When we
moved away, the people that moved in after us only stayed in the home
for about 2 weeks until they broke their lease and moved out in the
middle of the night.
