Plantation Ghost

When I was about three or four, my family and I were at my Aunt and Uncle's house for a cook out. My sisters, cousins and I were outside playing on the side of the yard. The men were tending to the fire they had started to roast oysters. I got thirsty and ran into the house through the back sliding glass doors to find my aunt and get a drink of water. It was late in the evening, so the house was dark except for a little light coming from the doorway to the kitchen. I stopped and called out to my aunt who didn't respond. So I waited and called again. In my aunts house, the den I was standing in had a doorway to the right that led straight into he kitchen and a doorway to the left that led into the formal dining room, and to the hallway that led to the bedrooms. If you wanted to as I often did as a kid, you could run in a complete circle from the den, kitchen, dining room, formal living room and back into the den. As I called out to my aunt again, I saw a woman, very quickly pass the door on the right apparently leaving the kitchen, and heading into the dining room/formal living room area. My gaze turned to the door on the left as again, I called out to my aunt. No answer, but from the door on my left, the woman quickly walked past that door and headed down the hallway. I took off and ran to that doorway and peeked my head around the corner to catch a glimpse of the lady entering my cousin's room at the very end of the very dark hallway. No light ever came on. I stood there silently for a moment. I could see this woman had long, straight dark hair. My aunt had short blonde hair. I knew at this point it was no one I knew. I could suddenly feel a pull toward the room. I knew the lady meant for me to follow her, but as I felt the pull, I could also felt a sensation of darkness if you will. I quickly ran back into the den, and straight out the back door. Everyone was where they had been and my mother and aunt were to my surprise, sitting outside, where they had been the entire time I'd been in the house. I told my aunt and mother I'd just seen a ghost in the house. I was quickly shooed away to go back and play with the other children.

A quick side note. My aunt called me a several years later and asked me if I remembered telling her there was a ghost in her house. I of course told her I did, because it was the first ghost I actually have a memory of seeing. She told me that they were getting some work done to their house, and the workers knocked on her back door and asked her to follow them. In the south, we don't really have basements, but we've got crawl spaces under our houses to work on foundations, duct work, etc. The men had been in my aunt's crawl space, and from right beneath the surface of dirt, they found a very large wad of what appeared to be human hair, long and dark. It was buried directly beneath my cousin's bedroom. It's also interesting to note, the land my aunt and uncle's house was built on had at one time been part of a rather large plantation home.
